Manage and Operate Khan Al-Wakale

    INVITATION FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST   Nablus Municipality Manage and Operate Khan Al-Wakale   The archaeological area of Khan Al Wakalewas built in the 17th century, on the remains of Roman and Crusaders buildings.Located within the old city of Nablus, at the western edge of the souk, Khan al-Wakalah was known as an urban caravanserai, a warehouse with stables, shops and accommodation for travelers. Now the site is considered an important land mark for Nablus municipality and UNESCO/EU/UNPD. In the framework of joint project 'Support to Development of Cultural Tourism' the Khan was restored and rehabilitated with €2.5 million funding from the EU; to become a hub for commerce, tourism and cultural servicesand to be addressed to local community, local tourists and international tourists.The work focused on conserving the ancient architectural structures and reconstructing the missing parts of the compound and surrounding area. A business plan has been prepared on how to transform the site into a profit-generating center to ensure that the restoration work has a long-term impact.   Currently, and following the rehabilitation works, the Khan comprising of information centre, offices, shops, restaurant, café, and guesthouse. Nablus municipality aims at preserving of tangible and intangible heritage of the Khan, contribute to economic development, job creation and strategic development of tourism sector for Nablus and Palestine in general.   Nablus municipality with the support of EC/UNDP invite eligible registered Palestinian companies to submit their expression of interest for pre-qualification process for selecting the operator to manage and operate Khan Al-Wakale.The objective of this project is to contribute to national economic growth through developing the tourism sector by increased engagement of Public-Private Partnership (PPP).   The submission and receipt of Expression of Interest is non-binding on all parties. Nothing in document or process should be interpreted to form a binding legal contract or an award of work. Procurement of services will be governed by the rules and regulations of Nablus Municipality.   Application Procedures:   Eligible companies can submit a concise profile (no more than 5 pages) to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested companies must provide information indicatingthat they are qualified to perform the services including company registration and legal certificates, area (s) of expertise, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, audited financial statements for the last 3 years.   Interested companies may obtain further information at the address below during office hours 9:00 am to 02:00 pm (Palestine time) from Sunday to Thursday.   Expressions of interests must be delivered to the address below by December 22, 2015 before 13:30 pm Palestine time.   Nablus Municipality Attn: Eng.
