World Bank Representatives Visited Nablus Municipality

Reviewed municipal projects :Mayor Yaish, Dr. Hafez Shaheen, and a number of department heads met today with World Bank representatives Mrs. Meskerem Brhane; Social Development Expert to the WB, Mrs. Anna Bjerde; Sector Manager of Urban and Social Development in the Middle East and North Africa Region and Mr. Iyad Rammal; Executive Manager of Municipal development Fund. Mayor Yaish who reviewed Nablus Municipality project for the last couple of years said that Nablus Municipality has been running Nablus' affairs under harsh circumstances since eight years despite the Israeli incursions, siege and check points suffocating the city. Mayor Yaish added that those Israeli measures against Nablus caused excessive losses at social and economic levels and turned Nablus into a capital of Palestinian poverty after been considered capital of Palestinian economy.
During his visit to Nablus Municipality Cultural Centre along with solidarity delegation of 240 youth from different West Bank towns and cities, Mr. Nassef Al Muallem, Director of Peace and Democracy Centre stated that "Nablus will remain steadfasting despite all obstacles, challenges and Israeli siege imposed on it since eight years'.
Mayor Yaish Calls European Governments to Work to Raise the Siege of Nablus

Mayor Yaish appealed yesterday European governments and societies to work to raise the Israeli siege imposed on Nablus since eight years. In his meeting with Spanish solidarity delegation accompanied by Mr. Saif Abu Kishik, Coordinator Paz Ahora organization, Mayor Yaish pointed out to the fact that "Nablus while being the capital of Palestinian economy before the second Intifada has turned into the capital of poverty".
Mayor Yaish Headed Old Town Restoration Project Meeting

Eng. Adly Yaish, Mayor of Nablus headed an advisory meeting attended by Welfare Association representatives and advisors of Old Town Restoration project. This meeting discussed latest developments pertaining to Restoration of the Old City Project which is funded by Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development through Welfare Association.

Along with delegation from Municipality of Hebron and NAPCO company, Eng. Khaled Essili, Mayor of Hebron visited Nablus Municipality and offered his congratulation to Mayor Yaish after being released from Israeli prison.
