Women Trainees of Women Corner Project

The Women Corner project team has celebrated the graduation of women trainees at Nablus Cultural Center. The project is being implemented by Nablus Municipality and funded by Medina Foundation in Italy and in cooperation with Asla Foundation. Mayor Yaish emphasized that empowering and building capacities of women lies within the strategic plan of the current municipal council, expressed his gratitude to work closely with Medina to implement this project.

 

He added that such initiative will help in improving the psychological, social and economic standards and well-being of women which will impact positively on their families and the society as a whole. In this connection, Mayor Yaish highlighted a number of initiatives  that shed the light on the gender aspect such as establishment of public parks to serve women needs particularly easing tension of children and women as a result of continuous incursions to the city for more than 9 years.

At the end of his speech, Mayor Yaish expressed his sincere thanks to Asala Foundation for its contribution in building capacities of women in Nablus through a series of training workshops, and congratulated the women graduates.

As for Mrs. Kholood, a councilor and In-Charge of Women Affairs Committee, she exhibited the history of committee formulation since four years referred to the achievements of this committee in making a tangible transformation in the service nature of women sector. She added that she attempted with her female colleagues at the municipal council to establish this committee and implemented a number of women pioneer projects and initiatives that reflected positively on a considerable number of women in the city.
