2009-08-06

In an effort to improve the skills of employees in addition to some experts, the training and development department, which comes under the Human Resources section, organised a seminar in Nablus Municipality, which focused on a number of offers, their examination, review, and analysis, the building contract management, and the FIDIC 99 contract. Seventy engineers of the Municipality participated in this, in addition to employees of the tenders and acquisition department and a number of interested parties. The meeting took place in the Nablus Municipality Cultural Centre “Hamdi Manko – Sharek”, with lectures by Fakhri al-Safadi of the Ministry of Higher Education.

The seminar aimed to introduce the FIDIC 99 contract and how to use and apply it; to improve the skills and capabilities of the employees in the field of tenders with the best tools used to examine offers, make them accurate and transfer them; to introduce the kinds and characteristics of acquisition services contracts and the best international ways and methods to choose buyers. Another objective of the seminar was to introduce and practise the fundamentals and models of financial demands and their requirements, and to familiarise the participants with the Palestinian Law of Tenders and to advise on categorising contractors.

This seminar is considered to be the most important and the biggest one of those organised by the training and development department in 15 months. It will run for eight days, amounting to 24 accredited hours.
