Introduction

Public Health Department (PHD) is one of the major departments of Nablus municipality and has been separated recently from the Solid Waste Department to form an independent body with different tasks and responsibilities. The department is mainly responsible for maintaining and improving health and environmental conditions for the city and its population.

This department is directed by Dr. Nidal Mansour who manages 64 employees distributed into three sections:

• Health and Environmental Inspection and Disease Fighting Unit
• Health and Environment Awareness and Guidance Unit.
• Funeral Services Unit

In addition to the three previously mentioned sections, other tasks and duties are also bestowed on the director including medication services to the entire municipality staff deciding whether they eligible for sick leave or otherwise..
