The Electricity Department is a municipal utility, providing electricity not only to Nablus city, but also it covers around 18 villages and four refugee camps. Services rendered by this department include transmission and distribution of medium voltage 33 KV and 6.6KV, low voltage 400/230 V with over head lines, under ground cables, substations and several consumer services including connections to the grid. Service delivery is being monitered and administered by a total of 190 engineers and technicians distributed among five main divisions; Transmission and Distribution, Planning and Studies, Maintenance, Power Generation, Metering and Test.

In addition to its major role in supplying electricity and lightining of streets, public buildings, traffic lights, schools, residential houses, its duties expanded to cover services to other cities and villages in the northern area of the West Bank upon request. However, Nablus is supplied with electricity from the Israel Electricity Corporation with a total capacity of 45 MW. Four-connection points were built for this purpose.
