If we are to improve the quality of life of our local citizens, our perspective and vision in rendering our services is to be broadened and shouldn’t be limited to ordinary municipal services, but should cover the entire segments of our local community. I do believe in making a change and improve the municipal services beyond those of infrastructure capacities. The efficiency of Nablus City proved to be exquisite versus the current critical conditions the city is encountering. The challenging political environment, the deterioration of living conditions due to the prolonged strict closure imposed on the city since more than 5 years, the lack of resources, and most importantly, the absence of political stability particularly in our district made our mission hardly achievable and in some cases severely impeded. This may hinders our mission particularly within the current circumstances that stands as stumbling block against our improvement towards our local citizens.
Being the elected Mayor of Nablus after thirty years from the last municipal elections, I would look at the whole image from different angels through casting the light on two main approaches: First, proceed with building the capacities of the local staff through developing a proper and sound organizational structure; Second, make every effort to address our people’s need and aspirations with special focus on the humanitarian issues. I would give this important aspect serious attention especially to those who are considered as defenseless and unfortunate groups. Such groups include women, children, poor people and those of special needs are relatively abandoned in our society. The lack of organizations through which these segments could be served motivates the council to take part of this responsibility within our capacities as city council, and particularly as an ordinary human beings. In my perspective, people’s personal affairs are as crucial as those of the municipal services. Alleviating people’s sufferings, finding fair solutions to their problems, listening to their personal affairs is very philanthropic issue and it is within our mission and tasks.

Moreover, I pay serious attention to the Municipality relations whether at the local or international levels. Special focus will be addressed to our relations with the international community with an aim of information and experience exchange so that to benefit from other’s experiences on one hand, and build bridges of confidence between people regardless of their nationalities. The corner stone of good performance lies in achieving satisfaction among people towards the Municipality to help maintaining a healthy and secured environment to the public.

Finally, I would to thank our brothers and people of Nablus city for the high confidence they bestowed on us, calling for Allah will in re-shaping the city to become as gorgeous, glorious and prosperous as we always aspired.
